Seafood Soups, Stews and chowders.

Norwegian Salt Cod Stew, or Bacalao....and I have some salt cod. May experiment....

Made me think of the Portuguese bacalhau a bras, not a soup or chowder but an addictive mix of salt cod, scrambled eggs and French fries.

I've never had it, but think the original is from South Carolina. Because it uses crab roe, it is probably not allowed in states that prohibit the taking of females with eggs (roe).

Forgive me if it's a stupid question, but how do you know whether or not the females have eggs?

They will be carrying them. Their apron will be open and the orange eggs will be visible.

I totally forgot about BBQed shrimp. Although the name is misleading, this is a wonderful dish! You have to use head on shrimp.

What did you cook, eat or drink today (August 2018)?.

The authentic version uses water instead of cider, and crème fraiche instead of cream, but it's one of those dishes you can chuck anything into.

Has anyone ever had Caldo de Pescado, Mexican fish soup? I wonder if the French had any influence on this dish.
