In the US we (everyone I know, anyway) use cold milk for cereal too (I honestly never thought anyone did differently), and our Grape-nuts are also sugar free (I think). I haven't bought them in awhile, I will have to look on the box next time I get them. If they have any sugar, I am sure it's minuscule by comparison to other US cereals.

I think in the UK some people use warm milk on cereal. Mainly they use cold though. I'm now craving Grape-nuts.

Most cereal would be cold milk, yes, but Grape-Nuts works both ways. Warmed in the microwave (or hot, even) and it's more like a Cream Of Wheat or oatmeal dish.

If you Google "Grape-Nuts warm," you'll see a lot of recipes for it, including one from the maker, Post.
Must be a Yankee thing. People where I came from didn't do hot cereal...but considering that the temperatures are so moderate year round, who would want hot cereal on a warm day?

I'm not a Yankee, though, through family. I'm the first one born in Ohio. All my family comes from Kentucky, Tennessee, Virginia, and Alabama (with a nod to Pennsylvania for part of my mom's side).

We eat hot cereal all year round, just like we eat hot soups, and hot sandwiches, and hot entrees, and hot desserts.

All I am saying is that no one I know does that. I don't know people in KY, TN, VA, or AL. I am from a beach community in Florida originally, but even people I know up here don't do that. I really don't know that many people in Ohio other than my husband's family and a few friends. But most definitely in Florida where I lived no one is eating hot soup or hot cereal when it's 108 outside.

Here it's a leak and a look around. :) ie nothing

Russ
Ha! Where I lived in Florida the seagulls were well-fed. They would snatch food of people's plates at outdoor restaurants on the beach. And stupid tourists were always feeding them, which is a HUGE mistake, LOL!

As I work to empty my refrigerator and freezer in preparation for a possible move to a new apartment this month, I am breakfasting on my last Jimmy Dean biscuits this morning.
