Strangest Eggs...

The dimmest thing I ever did when cooking involved an egg. I was living in Eritrea and had bought some eggs from the local shop. I'd bought quite a few by this time and never had a problem, but I cracked open a complete stinker. The smell of it nearly choked me. After that, I remembered to use a bucket of water to test them - the 'sink or stink' technique. If they sink, they're fine. If they float, throw them out. I didn't get many rotten ones, maybe one in twenty, but it was a lesson well learned.
