Steamed Banana Cake (Bánh Chuối Hấp)

I saw Andrew Zimmern have something like this when he visited Vietnam. This is a beloved Vietnamese dessert consisting mostly of bananas and topped with a coconut milk sauce. It’s not hard to make, but by far the biggest challenge was figuring out how to steam a cake without proper equipment. When I post the recipe, you’ll see how I did it.

I've never heard of these cakes but they look very pretty.

I've finally had time to type up the dish I made with this challenge in mind.

Mods please edit tags etc as needed. I'm getting used to things here slowly but I'm not sure I did it correctly.

I added the recipe challenge tag to the recipe, no worries. This looks so lovely and a great way to use cream. I hadn't even thought of it and I've been racking and wringing my brains for milk and cream recipes!

Quatro leches (4 milk) cake. I like this cake better than the tres leches cake I made for the cake challenge. With the changes I made of a little coconut milk replacing some of the sweetened condensed milk, brown sugar replacing some of the white granulated, and amaretto replacing some of the cream, I think it makes a richer, deeper flavored cake.

Lots of interesting recipes entered so far and a good mix of sweet and savoury dishes. The judging is going to be hard because of the amazing variation in flavours and styles.
Any more entries before tomorrow?
