Finally saw the pain specialist today. They didn't give me the regular pain doctor, but an actual anesthesiologist. And to my complete suprise, he prescribed buprenorfine stickers for as long as I need them because they are sure I have some for of reuma and they want me to be able to function.
I am blown away that this time I was listened to and actually prescribed something without even having to ask for anything. It was a very nice experience to finally have an understanding doctor.
That's fantastic news for you. I hope the patches help you.

I hope not. No sign of it yet??

Yeah my experience is with field mice that find their way in the house when it gets cold. My niece in NY said rats breed like crazy, but it's more densely populated there with old buildings close together. So maybe you'll be ok, as long as they don't get in your house. If you see them in the yard, put cayenne pepper around the parameters.

Perimeter?

I have found with field mice that watching where they are entering and exiting is a very useful exercise. Expandifoam and polyfilla become very good friends. The foam to fill the hole, the polyfilla (fine ready made white plaster) to smooth over the expandifoam after it has dried and set, then been trimmed. Pencil crayons, particularly water colours can fake indoor brickwork superbly. I've fixed many a fireplace/chimney this way where mice (or wood smoke) were using missing bricks to enter and exit and after some colouring in, the only way to tell where the repairs where was by tapping the bricks to detect the sound change!

Yes, I meant perimeter, lol. Don't get me started on the number of typos you make regularly that I don't point out :D

And cayenne pepper is a great deterrent for all kinds of critters. Not discounting your methods by any means.

Unfortunately this is difficult with a 6,000+ sqft home with 3 levels. They usually come in during the winter when there are several feet of snow on the ground.

Thanks , it's the first rat my wife has seen for 50 odd years.

Our feral cats are back, so the rats are under control, for now. They are field rats that come from the ranch land near me. They are more of a winter problem, as they look for shelter from the cold, like in garages. I've never had one get into the house.

I rented a house across the street from the Beach on Oahu when I was a young adult and there were rats in the crawl space/attic space. My landlord found a stray cat, chucked it up into the crawl space and that solved that.

I work retail and a customer sauntered in today dressed like Friar Tuck. Long brown (robe? dress?), chain with a giant cross on it and a rope belt. Either the Renaissance festival has started or there's a monastery in the area. I hope it's the latter.
