This sounds like a fantastic event. Did you take some photos to share?

Yes. There should be some being sent over. My niece took heaps - she knew I would not have time to take them, but she arrived with laryngitis & left half dead with a high temp. She’s had the last 2 days off work. She msged me today to say I was correct in my statement that she had laryngitis and should give the alcohol a gentle nudge (didn’t listen to Aunty!) so she is still feeling pretty poorly.

The normally execrable ScotRail did something useful for once by offering us a five-pound ticket. The choices were not huge, either Edinburgh or Dundee. Now, we can get to the former for £6-50 if we use railcards, but the cheapest day return to Dundee is £21-70, so a trip north seemed like the better option.

Having had to book the tickets well in advance, it was mere pot luck in terms of the weather. Fortunately, we got a pleasingly sunny day. I will add some photos to the relevant thread.

Yesterday an employee of the vehicle hire company that we use at work popped in to see if all is ok, any issues that need addressing. OMG he was gorgeous, :heat: I was very hot under the collar, his eyes were lovely and his smile sexy. Sorry but I am only human.

I've spent the last couple of days covered in lumps and bumps and itchies - don't think it was a food allergy, more like walking the mutt through the long grass in the field, since the local council have decided to save some money by only cutting a strip round the edge of it.

However, I have spent some time watching some old cookery programmes from as far back as 1990! One of them caught my eye and, although the main ingredient is fish so I will never actually make it, it did also contain bread so I am writing it up for the Challenge.

People do things that baffle me. One current fad, at least where I live, is for walking along the middle of the road. Now, the street that I live in is not a main road, but there is a port and a station near, so there is a certain amount of traffic. We get lorries, buses, cars and vans going along here. There is a perfectly good pavement on each side of the road, so we can't blame that. So why do some people insist on walking right in the middle of the road? I've even seen some of them staring intently at their mobile phones while they're doing it. I even saw one buffoon gesticulating angrily at a car driver who had the temerity to drive his car along the road. Bewildering.

I think my chooks are taking it in turns to be I'll and come in to the house for TLC. I've another one in the house again. 3 days on and she's finally perking up but even hubby doesn't think she's ready to go back into the flock, or even outside! Grrrr.
At least the floor is pretty much vinyl throughout so it's easy to clean. I'd been keeping her locked up either in the large dog cage that's collapsible and huge, or in a smaller but still very large pretty carrier. He came home, unlocked her and let her wander around the house. Mind you is the first time she shown any interest in her surroundings so I know she's getting better!

This morning I was talking to a couple of colleagues, 1 I don't know all that well but she is a nice kid, we were discussing retirement and I commented I still had about 20 years to go as my age is ** , she claimed to be really shocked as I don't look it. Bless her, a bit of flanel but I will take it :giggle:

A late afternoon walk yesterday revealed some sand martins down by the harbour. I found this most pleasing, as the small town in which we live has swallows, house martins, sand martins and swifts, all long-distance migrants. We also spotted some common terns the other day, another bird that travels great distances.

Perhaps they want to see your new home?

:thumbsup:Hey all
I am alive and well.
My car died so I now have a 2018 GMC Acadia. Not the high end version. A very nice, comfortable car that I feel comfortable driving. I do not have to worry about being stranded . My old car expired in a parking lot. Glad I have AAA.
Got a great deal on my car. Her name is Blanche.

My garden is looking great. LOTS of peppers maturing. I am thinking about pepper jelly . Great holiday gifts. Cherry tomatoes are ripening . I should have beans soon. It has been so hot and dry
I should have more production. O well. I am patient . .I have not been cooking much. In a funk.
Saturday we went crabbing . Came home with 2 and 1/2 dozen beautiful blue point crabs. A new place. We worked hard for the crabs . Does not matter . We had a nice outing.

Spent time with my niece painting . This is my niece who has ceribal palsy
Her art blows me away.
I have the ingredients ready to make bread.
I have not gotten a new laptop . My $ went to a down payment on my car.
Miss you all .
I will get out of my funk. I have periodic bouts of depression that will kill my interest in things that I love. It is all oka y. I am able to work through it.
I feel a resurgence of interest . I Will make bread today.
I miss you all bunches. I will get my act together .

I am missing you too - I get depression as well and understand. You are a great contributor to the forum and I'm sure you will be back on track soon. Here we are all friendly and supportive, I hope. :hug:Bread making is very therapeutic...

Nice to see you @ElizabethB I bet Blanche is a stunner. What colour is she?

My Audi TT is named Audrey - she is a little silver beast. My Subaru Impreza is Saphire. She’s getting old & delapidated these days but I’ve kept her for the learner driver.

I’m off work sick. This is highly unusual. However I’m so congested & the coughing is nearly non stop at times. I’ll be calling for an appointment as soon as the surgery opens.

I’ve just collected a basketful of my daughters daily get ready for school crap from the dining room - it has the best natural light :whistling: and taken it to her sty of a room. She won’t be impressed with my meddling but it’s going to be much easier now for her to clean up in there as I’ve piled the clothes up in one corner, thrown all her shoes back into their tub & the floor is nearly visible.

I really struggle to be the Mum that just rolls their eye & shuts the door. However I refuse to spend an hour cleaning it. With all the resolving it would be at least 2 hours in there.

Sigh. I do remember my Dad being very frustrated with me as a teenager.

Thankfully my son is tidy.

Thankfully my son is tidy.

My daughter and my stepdaughter both used to be very untidy. One day, while they were at school, my ex and I piled all their stuff up on the landing, outside their rooms. They had to sort it all out before they could get changed for dinner.

They also used to keep rabbits and were getting rather lazy when it came to keeping the cages clean and the rabbits watered and fed. I said to them one night, if you don't see to those rabbits when you get home from school, they are going in the pot. A couple of days later, they forgot to feed the rabbits. The next night, I made a stew for dinner so it was ready as soon as they got home. "Hmm," they said, "that was nice; what was it?" I looked at the pair of them and said "Rabbit." They didn't know whether to run up to the loo or what. The rabbits were of course quite safe - I'd used a rabbit bought from the supermarket - but they never forgot to look after them again.
