We had a fan on overnight, doesn't bother either of us as it is quiet, neither of us could sleep without it.

We have ceiling fans in every room except the kitchen but also a couple of free standing fans to be deployed as and when/where required. We now have aircon in the lounge in addition to the main bedroom but it's very rarely used unless the temperature exceeds 35 degC.

If it gets too bad during the day then we take the fan downstairs into the lounge.

A strange occurrence...I had just turned on my laptop this morning to do what might vaguely be considered work when a very small ladybird started clambering around the perimeter. It has now been (gently) removed to the outside world.

I shall never forget driving past a steelworks just to the south of Doha, Qatar when the temperature was approaching 50 degC. At least the doors were open.

(We had some excuse for aircon in the car but at least it was something).
That is seriously hot. Temperatures of 48 deg C are forecast for parts of the Western Med over the next few days.

Apologies for the quality of this image. Taken through dirty glass, on full zoom, with shaky hands....

Three baby swallows who'd been born in my woodshed last week decided to hop out of their nest and have a peek at the world.

One of the adults flew past seconds after I took the photo and all 3 babies flew off

It's 33 degC/67% rh and mainly overcast here on my stoep. Only a very slight breeze so I'm thinking of bringing out a 16" stand-up fan. It will only be on 1 out of the 3 settings.

Yesterday I was discussing computer systems with a contact and she said that their company system was set up in 1982, I commented that I was still at school then, she replied that she hadn't even been born, yeah thanks for making me sound like an old git ,

I can make no comment. I retired 18 years after then!
