Ah oh

I'd forgotten today was another day without electricity. It's just gone off and tbe place had gone dark and quiet. Dark because it's cloudy outside, threatening rain but it won't deliver. And because dark is cooler, tbe kitchen only had a window into a room with a window (it eas an add on to the house at a latter date. Tbe same is true for the sitting room, that's a veranda add on (plus an extension for tbe sitting room only noticeable if you look at the ceiling/tops of the walls) but given that tbe sitting room and kitchen are joined by a small dining room, the result is that they are both dark all of the time. And at 4°C outside, nothing is going to convince me to work outside this morning.

So my planned work for the day which I wad actually working on at the time to power went off just now, is out of the window unless I hand crank the sewing machine.

Grr. Can't even have that hot lunch I was looking forward to now.

Couldn't tell you the last time we had a power cut, ? Not in 30 years anyway, even with the quakes we had, my kids all lost power, son and his wife moved in here until, they got power back on. I guess I'm a townie, lol.

Yeh, this is the 3rd time in 3 weeks, all for planned maintenance. I can actually see and hear them working on the main lines that cross through the property on this occasion. Bit why they have to do it at the coldest time if year when it's last convenient is beyond me. Ironically the telephone mast 500m or so from me still had power hence I've got phone and internet via a the phone until tbe power runs out. I can then recharge it from either a freebie USB power device hubby got given at a hotel he stayed in or from the USB high power spot light we have. We've also got a USB lantern for calling which acts as a charging device as well but that is covered in delousing powder (aka coopex) after we deloused all of the chickens on Saturday night. Do them in the dark and a) they don't complain as much and pretty much let you pick them up off the perch and cover then head to toe and b) because you've done it in their sleep, it actually stays on then for 6-8hrs before they get up and roll in dust tho get rid of it so it's more effective. Given we're meant to do it every 3 months and we haven't yet done them whilst living here (15 months) it was very over due. We now kit ourselves out head to toe in protective gear, plus face masks (GP1 standard so very fine particles which is what this stuff is). We very covered more than they do! So any itching now is physiological!

But I can't be bothered raiding the camping gear, so I'll probably retire to bed to stay warm and read a book. Or knit if I can find anything to start. I'm at the end if all my projects at the moment, can't do the repair that is waiting because I need to print off something for that and.... no cooking, bit I have woken my sourdough starter up which smelt heavenly. I hope it survives. It's been dormant for 15-16 months. Waking up could be a shock to it!

So, we popped out for lunch on Sunday, went to Crabby Jack's near Vazon on the West coast.
I had scallops in bacon.

That's great! What sort of festival is it?

:highfive: hope you have a great time :okay:

It's a multi day pagan folk/alternative music + fantasy festival with cosplay and such going on. I am very exited, as all my friends since my teenage years have been going there each year and they love it :)

I'm wearing a hobbit costume, as I am a little hobbit myself

Oh I am 5.7 but I live in the tallest country of the world making me actually short :D

I didn't realise that folk in the Netherlands were tall... don't know if you are male or female though... I used to be 5ft 8 and a half (so quite tall for a woman) but over the years I seem to have lost height - I think its to do with the spine or something.
