Happy New Year šŸ„³
My plans involve a lot of jobs and running around that I can feel Iā€™m already resisting, good to start the new year in the fashion I intend to continue in šŸ˜‚
No sitting around!

I assume thereā€™s basically nowhere safe for humans in Australia. Itā€™s just a matter of time before something indigenous would do me in.
Yep that's about the situation.

First time my OH came across a red back spider was in the Ikea car park. Apparently they love the air vents in reverse cycle air con installations meaning they have taken over cities and homes big time. You're actually more likely to get bitten by one in a city that rurally or on a farm.

MrsT keeps saying she wants to go to Australia, and I keep saying, ā€œText and tell me how it is.ā€

I'm still here, so it can't be that bad

But it did take several years for my body to get used to the bugs in soil and 1 round of cellulitous and sepsis before I could garden without gloves on.

I canā€™t go anywhere where the spiders would be bigger than my dog!

That's good to know. I'm not sure the electric fence would do much to keep the crocs out.
If they're after my chooks, my chooks are on they're own. I'll only stand between them and certain predators such as foxes and birds of prey (we have the biggest Australian Eagles here and plenty of them, but I've never had an issue with the chooks thankfully).

Back to work today, not a great start. One of the guys who works here and has done for many years, passed away last night. He was on the sick waiting for a new knee so this was quite a shock. To be fair he has many years as a heavy drinker so something had to give.
He was the life and soul of the place and the parties he arranged for birthdays, retirement etc..always made sure everyone was included and looked after.
A very sad start to the year :(
