The Good News Thread

My mum’s car was broken. £750 of mechanic fees later, turns out it was a broken key
Mine was, unfortunately, a bit more complicated.
A valve in the engine disintegrated, and destroyed the pistons, the camshaft, the crankshaft, the mine shaft, the drive shaft, the thread shaft, the spark plugs, the oil pump, the gas pump, the water pump, the thingummy, the wotsit, the dinglybittle, the thropostratoscat, and God only knows what else.
It probably ended up at about £2,500. Still, I took it for a run this morning and it's just like new .
Cheaper than a new car, which starts at about £30,000.

I think as you were reluctant to go off work I'll say wow BRILLIANT 🤩 but really (for myself) I want to say oh dear poor you 😆
It is a return to normality, mundane as it sounds, an ordinary life is all I want after the last few months.

I don’t know if it counts as good news or not, but today, I whipped cream by hand for the very first time.

Normally, I start it, then give up after four minutes (I tell myself five, but when I get to four, I think, “Is one more minute really gonna matter?”) and get out the stand mixer and finish it up, but I was feeling stubborn today and had to just get it to soft peaks, so I stuck with it, and six minutes later…success (and sore arms!).
