The gluten free puff pastry doesn't look too bad.

Vol au vents are really old school in the UK. Not sure about across the pond but I don't think I've seen (m)any members posting about them.

We have them here and they’re considered very retro 1950’s suburban housewife stuff (which I love).

Vol-au-vents are my secret indulgance. Obviously they got stuck with the retro 70s flavours, prawn cock, mushroom cream, chicken and sweetcorn, but I don't see why they shouldn't be revived with more up to date fillings, after all they are basically tapas.

I feel a challenge coming on when I am better - relaunch the vol!

It’s passable as pastry but defo not the real deal.

I’ve lost count of how many gluten free puff pastry fails there have been before I’ve found precisely the right combo of cutting, glazing, refrigerating and precise oven temp to get the small amount of ‘puff’ the gluten free stuff will give.
This was good with the filling though, I’d do it again!

It's OK. Any kind of challenge is monitored and set up by mods usually. We will are discussing bring in some more challenges, as it happens.
