Using alcohol in cooking.

Mountain Dew here is now nothing more than a soft drink.
Also for 95% alcohol content, it is everclear here.
I do not recommend drinking almost a pint of it straight in one shot.
We were very lucky we didn't lose a friend who tried that.

Bottled drink here as well. However, get the real stuff.....

Last time I was given some of it in a cup, I was told take it easy, it's strong stuff. Left me wondering what the fuss was about.

I understand that many a Thai rice farmer has become close to death drinking Lao Khaow (Thai rice whiskey). I've tasted it once - never again.

Have tried some spirit brewed and distilled by a friend [illegally here in good old Britain of course !] and it was very close to a pure alcohol - it had no taste worth mentioning. It seemed more like a laboratory chemical that a decent drink and in my opinion was a bit of a waste of time [unless the idea is to get as drunk / paralysed / near death as fast as possible] Now a fine singe malt whisky - that's more like it.
