I scored me some sweet corduroys a couple of weeks ago, for a pittance:

…and yes, that means it’s time for another installment of, “You Probably Didn’t Know This, But…”

You probably didn’t know this, but Neil Diamond’s classic hit “Sweet Caroline” actually started out as a love song to his favorite fabric:

Out at the mall
Mindlessly shoppin' for nothin',
Just wastin' time on a Saturday.
Into a shop,
Not expectin' much but
What's that I see? Will it flatter me?

Clothes...
Touchin' clothes...
Reachin' out...
Touchin' cloth... touchin' skin...

Sweet corduroy!
These trousers feel both soft and rough.
I'll be the boy
Who buys them all, I can't get enough!

I’m up to two pairs of corduroy trousers and a corduroy jacket.

When I’m home by myself, I like to wear the trousers inside-out - they’re literally

Today, I wore some sage green trousers, a white-and-black graph-print shirt, a grey tweed waistcoat, and grey suede boots - I had lunch at Skyline today, and there’s a server there who prides herself on knowing her customers, so whenever I go in, she tries to remember my order (cheese coney with everything except the chili, fries with a side of sour cream, and water), or remember my name, or something else random about me, and today…she said, “You look really nice, even more than usual!” so now she’s my new favorite server. :laugh:

MrsT hates that. When I dropped her off last week, we had supper out, and I was wearing a lot of different colors, and some wild socks as well, and when the server came over, she said, “Well hello, Mr. Skittles…you’re like all the colors!”

I laughed and said, “Yeah, I’m sweet like candy,” and she said, “Oh, you’re gonna be my best customer all night, I can tell!”

Then she looked at MrsT and said, “He’s trouble, isn’t he?!” and MrsT very drily replied, “Oh, you have no idea,” and gave an obviously non-humorous eyeroll, and that shut everything down. :laugh:

That's a very comfortable temperature compared to here right now!! It's-2C here right now and the high tomorrow is 1C.

Those are lovely socks btw.

Edited to add: SatNavSaysStraightOn, how do you get them to stay up? Do you have some sort of elastic woven into the top? I've always marveled at the patterns you are able to do in your socks, looks intricate (says an uncrafty person).
