What did you cook/eat today (August 2017)?

Wow! That is huge! What are the meaty things encased in pastry on the left? And what are the pies on the right? And did you eat it all? :D

The meaty things on the left is a sausage roll cut in half, there were 3 small pork pies, bread, ham, cheese, pickled onions, bread, salad. We didn't eat it all.

Seeing the pix of corn made me wonder....
Here in Texas you cannot take a country drive and not stumble across people selling produce (and wrought iron yard decos smuggled from Mexico ;-) from the back of their trucks... is this allowed in other places?
There are a lot of farms round here that have farm shops, but some people sell eggs, honey, fruit, veg, even animals at their gate. I keep meaning to stop at one on the way to/from the park where I take the mutt, but it is either too early, or I forget! It must be 50 years since I've seen someone selling produce from a truck.

After meeting with my old mining buddies with a lot of pints.....

I've seen the same thing in south-central Massachusetts (sans the wrought iron), along with little "shed" farm stands out near the road. Ohio is littered with those small household stands, too.

Dinner on Thursday was patty melt with an overabundance of caramelized onions and Fontina cheese (you can see a puddle of overflow in the lower-left of the plate), me-made pickles, deviled eggs, and corn-and-tomato salad with Feta cheese.

Friday night we had Breakfast for Supper. Mushroom omelet with the last of the Fontina (have to clean up before vacay), fried potato cubes, sweet apple sausages, and a side of fruit salad (cherries, blueberries, nectarine, orange).

Note to self: Don't cut the sausages in half - they curl up like big bugs...

Fry-up brunch - Bubble and squeak, bacon, egg, tomatoes, black pudding. I hasten to add that I cooked this for my friend (where I am staying). I was ever so good and just had a piece of toast! He had to go and lie down afterwards. I can recommend this black pudding. Its a brand I've not used before and I reckon its the best I've ever tasted.

And for those of us with the 'egg bleed' fetish:

The black pudding is very black @morning glory . I don't think I've ever seen black pudding as black as that. Even the white bits are black!
