Today I made Ahi tuna teriyaki with fried rice. Best meal of the week.
Happy belated birthday to your wonderful hubby! My husbands 57th birthday is today
There's a vet down the road 16 miles that does something similar. Practice with her partner was lost and she had to open a clinic too far away for most to travel. She got a van/bread truck and started picking up people's pets in a central market parking lot and would take them in for treatment and bring them back that afternoon. Word got around and donations keep up with paying a driver so she can tend animals.Sunday “church supper” food, but on a Saturday (and also last night):

Here’s the story: I always mention driving about 90 minutes north to an Amish-style restaurant, in order to get their fantastic doughnuts. Well, this food came from the same place, but we didn’t drive up to get it.
There used to be a location of that restaurant located less than 15 minutes away, but it burned down several years ago, and they decided, for whatever reason, not to rebuild, which devastated a lot of people around here, because it was very popular. We used to go twice a week (one supper, one breakfast), and buy doughnuts and fresh-baked bread.
It was also the restaurant my dad specifically picked out to take MrsT to, because he knew she loved Amish things, the very first time I brought her down to meet my family, and whenever MrsT’s folks would visit, they loved to eat there, and our twice a week habit turned into three or four times, as long as they were in town, so there’s some personal history there as well.
Anyway, unbeknownst to us, for the last few years, the location 90 minutes away has been making loads of boxed meals (enough for four very large and very hungry people), and driving them down here in a food truck to sell - no preordering, first-come-first-served, and it also includes cookies…giant saucer-sized snickerdoodles or chocolate chip - and of course, they bring doughnuts and fritters as well.
MrsT found out about it, and for a very reasonable cost, got 12 pieces of chicken, a giant tub of homemade mashed potatoes, a giant tub of green beans, a slightly less giant container of chicken gravy, eight hamburger-bun-sized yeasty dinner rolls, and eight of those big-as-yer-hand cookies, so that’s what we had last night and tonight (and probably again tomorrow - there’s still quite a bit leftover).
Seems like they know they still have a following down our way…we just wish they would have built the place back up after it burned to the ground.

And the main - eggs, homefries, toast, bacon and salad.
Everything was great - I’m fussy about my bacon and this was perfect, nice and crispy!
Meatloaf, mash, and steamed broccoli.

We never had meatloaf as kids. My wife actually started from a recipe about 40? Years ago. Then I started cooking when I started a 9 to 5 office job in the steel game.I never could bring myself to love it. My mother's meatloaf traumatized me, lol.
