It's only 12.30 pm here and I've made bruschetta for the first time. It will be a hit because the wife loves it.
Its Sunday so family later main is pretty much ready. Smoked chicken fettuccine.
Dessert I was going to do apple crumble but daughter intervened as she has an apple tree. Shes making the crumble.
Ice cream and raspberry coulis for kids
I'm punting in between lounge and kitchen.
Gerkins need bottling.

The salmon recipe was brilliant. Thanks vernplum 🤩

It showed its usefulness before it even made it onto the table! I’d lost track of the time and was supposed to be serving lunch early at 12oclock so everyone was fed before heading off to watch the rugby. I looked at the clock to realise IT WAS 12 o’clock 😱 but the salmon really does only take five mins under the grill!
12.10pm it was on the table being eaten 👏

⬆️ The single fillet which I did not enjoy skinning and always swear I’ll buy the correct knife for the job next time and don’t 😆

Medium rare fillet (doesn’t much show in the pics due to my plates oranging everything) with a lazy arse pre-made M&S ‘supergreen’ salad that went nicely.

I didn’t have the grill quite hot enough for a full on seared look but it was delicious anyway (lesson learned) and I cooked it as one piece which lessened the impact of the marinade which I wouldn’t do again, next time I’ll cut it into smaller pieces.

To the remaining marinade (as vernplum says there is a lot) I added some water to dilute the power of the flavours and heated till bubbling to kill any bacteria before thickening ever so slightly. That in a little ramekin was a nice power punch dipping sauce.

Looks great! Was the miso-ness at the right level for Mr SSOAP?

Hubby cooked. Spanish omelette and a vegan sausage roll he used to keep the ice cream frozen on his way home yesterday.

Hubby cooked again.

I'm just eating, not enjoying. I can taste salt but that's about it. Shame really. I think it's the antiviral drugs, they've made everything taste metallic. Oh well..

Thanks. It’s definitely got a permanent place in my repertoire because it’s so nicely flavoured and so unbelievably fast. Very happy with it.

I halved the amount of miso (two generous tablespoons) and it was perfect for him, he commented several times how much he liked it, when he finished I said well this may surprise you but it’s the miso in it.
His face was a picture, reminded me of a kid that had been tricked into eating some loathed veg 😆

I had to rescue the situation by saying it’s a different type of miso that was an expensive version with the funky flavour he dislikes removed. He was satisfied with that 😜

In truth it was. The ‘Bart’ white miso does have a very clean flavour and I loved it. I think it might be like some of the other strong flavours you can go wrong with if you get the amount wrong, you know stuff like star anise, fish sauce, sesame oil etc. But i can imagine increasing the amount next time 👍
