What did you cook or eat today (February 2025)

Does boiling the sausage in beer impart much beer flavour? What kind of beer do you use? I've never tried that and I would have thought that the beer wouldn't be able to penetrate the skin (plus it would be a waste of beer which.. I just can't...).

But an (h)air-fried brat with a beer to wash it down - that's a thing round here. :)
I use the same beer that I drink and you do get a bit of flavor. The casing expands as it heats up so the pores get larger. And yes, having it with beer is a thing too! 😋

I’ve never been able to detect a whole lot, but it’s a very popular way to prepare them here, especially in the Upper Midwest (Minnesota, Wisconsin, etc) - we used to go to tailgate parties with massive pans/barrel halves filled with beer brats.

Usually, the recommended beer is the cheap stuff. You don’t want a really hoppy beer or a strongly flavored beer, you want something mild.

Spaghetti all'Assassina (with some roasted veg [bell pepper, eggplant] underneath). First time making it and it was OK. My wife said 'where's the sauce? It's so dry'.

Looks lovely to me, maybe she just needed a larger glass of wine to go with? 😂

Yesterday:.
I decided to experiment using my aubergine a la nonna in an omelette.
Maybe sacrilege, but it worked.
And yes, I like my omelette with some colour, the inside was just set.

I imagine it’s delicious but I can help but think the Omelette doesn’t look very well 😜

We're tripping over then at the moment and for some reason hubby came home with 2 more commercial ones at the weekend. So we have 3 commercial cucumbers, a packet of qukes, and then there are 4 more huge cucumbers in the fridge fresh off the vine today along with another couple of weeks supply growing...
I get that way in the summer sometimes with tomatoes. Well not last year because we didn't have the bumper crop we have had in other years...but anyway, I get stuck in a routine of buying tomatoes during winter and spring, and then right when the first summer wave is ready to harvest I have store-bought ones on the counter I need to use. But I am sure you will figure out a way to make use of them!

Weve had about 4 cuces from our plant as well. Nothing like picking as needed.
