Despite pubs and restaurants reopening on Saturday we had decided to give them a wide berth for a while. However, we heard yesterday that the pub in our village had re-opened, and that it had been fairly quiet. Being Monday, we thought that it would be even quieter, and a quick phone call confirmed this. We booked in for a meal, and were one of only two tables occupied in the restaurant. The social distancing measures were well thought out, and the food was excellent:

Chicken & chorizo tagliatelli

I've heard some pubs are already being closed. I guess due to patrons not abiding by the conditions imposed. If so, good. That was a huge mistake for Texas -- not closing down the bars that were out of bounds.

The pubs only opened here on Saturday. On the news this morning it was reported that three have since closed down because a customer has tested positive for the virus.

Its as epicuric says because some customers have tested positive. Its not likely that they caught it from being in the pub as there isn't enough time for them to have developed symptoms, gone for a test and got results, since Saturday. Seems more likely they already had it when they went to the pub and have since received test results.

This means that they may well have infected a load of others in the pubs concerned.

Spaghetti with a 5 hour beef ragu. It’s one of those dishes I love to cook for a really long time, stirring and adding a little stock or water as I go. Must admit our lockdown has made this a lot easier.View attachment 42996

I love food that simmers slowly all day. I love tasting it, and adding this or that. Plus, it makes the house smell so good.

That's right up my alley. I'd stick my whole head in the pot and come up noodles!
