Had some cooked skirt steak in one of the freezers. Perfect for some Ropa Vieja.

Hemmers, Do they hand pull the filo or buy ready made ?
I don't know..., haven't asked. I'm not familiar enough with filo to notice the difference. If they don't have premises somewhere else, the storage and preparation area next to the café is so limited that they probably use defrosted dough. Anyhow, it's a Croatian franchise chain - or used to be (link).
 
Busy day in the kitchen today. Butternut squash and sage soup, marinating mutton in red wine and spices for tonight's curry, aubergine curry as an accompaniment and a date and banana cake. I don't even eat cake. I think after three weeks away I have had a pent-up need to cook this week. Hopefully, I have got it out of my system as I have to focus on other things next week. Pics to follow later.
