This Seasons first freeze - this calls for a nice warm bowl of comfort ...

For us "locals"' (that's Hawaii speak for folks from Hawaii) that means a big ole bowl of my Won Ton Mein Deluxe.
Starting at 6 o'clock in the bowl above:
Baby Bok Choi
S&S brand of frozen Saimin (waayyyy different from Ramen), we share one package between us (that's the Mein component)
Pork & Vegetable Dumplings (that's the Won Ton)
Green Onions
My homemade Char Siu or Chinese BBQ Pork (there's a nice pile of it under there)
Kamaboko or Japanese Steamed Fish Cake
all in a gorgeous broth made with Hondashi or Dashi Powder in very hot water and a dash of Shoyu (Soy Sauce)
OISHII!!!
Now granted, my DH is from Pennsylvania, but lived the majority of his life in Hawaii and adapted to the foods rather quickly.
He said that the best bowl of Won Ton Mein is the one that I make at home, because I put loads of "goodies" in it.

It looks lovely!

Pan and oven roasted crispy skin chicken thighs. Knoor butter and herbs pasta, with a couple of spoonfuls of chicken fat and a garnish of crispy skin from the extra pieces I cooked for chicken salad. Craig accidentally bought broccoli with cheese sauce instead of the plain mixed vegetables I asked him to buy for a different dish. Hopefully, he will never do that again, Green Giant microwave package.

What is knoor butter?

What is knoor butter?
Knoor is a line of packaged side dishes of pasta or rice with flavorings. This was pasta flavored with butter and herbs.

And OOPS, I spelled it wrong. Should be Knorr.

I ended up buying an extra Tovala meal this time so needed something for 1 of us. So, since we had 1 frozen chicken Kiev leftover out of 4, or something similar, I decided to get packages of Knorr sides since they were on BOGO. I used to eat them for lunch years ago and they were pretty good. The pasta butter and herbs was okay, but either my tastes have changed or quality has diminished.

Seems like I forgot to post yesterday's food.

This was our evening meal. Cauliflower cheese with broccoli, asparagus and chia nuggets.

Hubby cooked for evening meal. A Buddha bowl. There's beluga lentils in a delicious tomato sauce hidden from view at the bottom. Along with braised fennel, potatoes, tomatoes, broccoli...

I just won't mention the swearing coming from the kitchen, or the crashes and smashes or the "what can I use instead of star anise?" plea... Why? We haven't got any... yes we have 4 packets of it (the packets only have 3 florets in them and they were being discontinued and they're hard to get, so I got the remaining bags...)...

tonight is seared pork chops in a bed of sauerkraut tamed with applesauce, topped with mush/onion/bacon compote . . .
(prior photo - but I really don't change all that much . . . )

and a long since not made German style potato salad... remember the olde' spinach salad with hot bacon dressing . . . before the world went crazy over 'fats'...?
