What is your current "read"?

The only problem I find, speaking as the author of a so-called humorous novel, is that Wodehouse, like Flann O'Brien and Tom Sharpe, is several billion light years ahead of what I could ever hope to achieve.

I think its possible to teach people how to write well. There are formulae and tips and tricks which can be demonstrated and learned regarding creative writing. But to write with humour is not something which can be taught, I think?

Yes, I discovered that I write "humour" almost by accident. My first forays into "proper" writing were for a football fanzine back in the 1980s. The ethos was to sprinkle a bit of humour into articles and I found that it came naturally to me. In fact, I struggle to write "serious" articles because I have a kind of default position that makes me think of something silly or funny.

I have been trying to write a "serious" novel for a while, but it isn't getting far.

Torino e i Savoia..wow.
I'm starting to read the book "Alabarde Alabarde", written by Josè Saramago, a portugues writer....

@MypinchofItaly

Wow .. Fascinating ..

Yes, is a series in Spanish .. The next one is: Los Visconti Crimen y Pasión en Milán !

In English, The Visconti Family, Crime and Passion in Milan ..

I cannot put the series down .. Exceptionally Extraordinary. The Author of this one is: Historian Fernando Garces, and he is Catalan ..

This is a series of 14 different regions of Italy, all written by famous Historians ..

Have a wonderful weekend ..

When I finish, I shall take a look into the book on Portugal ..

I've read Blindness by Saramago, which ranks as one of the best novels of the 20th century. I visited the Saramago museum in Lisbon a few years ago. It was, I believe, the last house he lived in.

Despite having been to Lisbon several times, I never visited the Saramago Museum ... I'm ashamed
When I finish this book, I'll buy Blindness...

Yes, The Visconti (with Sforza - Castello Sforz-esco) were the Lords of Milano

@MypinchofItaly

Please don´t be ashamed that you did not go to a Museum. There are thousands of Museums .. And unless you are staying for a few days in 1 zone, it is nearly impossible to do all the museums a city may have ..

The next trip !
