Such are the workings of the Net that a couple of days ago I was invited to join a Facebook Group for The Canterbury Scene

This is a convenient description for a style of laid back pop/rock/jazz music that was originally formed in the late 1960s and early 1970s by musicians in the town of Canterbury, UK, but has since spread wider
It is gentler than Heavy Metal, and not as pompous as a lot of Prog Rock

The original band was The Wilde Flowers, and as that gained more members it split to form bands such as Soft Machine, Caravan, Hatfield and The North, and several others

Did I join?
Yes, of course! It's the music from my youth
Find it on YouTube
Or try 'In The Land of Grey and Pink' by Caravan

My first gig in 20 months, and it was worth the wait. Public Service Broadcasting at one of the best venues in the UK, Rock City Nottingham. It is 25 years since I've been there (shame on me) and I'm happy to report that they still haven't cleaned the floor.
