I went to buy fresh bagels this AM. I went in my black and white hound's tooth heavy flannel pants. Threw a jacket over my outfit. As I was leaving a Senior lady called out "Sweetheart! I love your pants! You are so tiny and adorable." LOL. I thanked her and giggled on the way to my car.

I had to look up necronomicon. For some reason I'd never come across the word, despite the fact I know H.P.Lovecraft's work. For anyone else who isn't familiar:

Wiki
Yeah, I actually have read that a few times (back in my 20s).

Edited to add this:
"A market clearly existed for a ritual book that somehow might be passed off as authentic—if it were somewhat like that mentioned by HPL. The book thus fabricated by the mysterious Simon is an artful blend of pseudo-Sumerian and Goetic ritual, with names crafted to resemble those of Lovecraft’s invented monster gods. More importantly for many would be Black Magicians who bought copies, it had performable rites and plenty of arcane sigils. It was more than enough to sucker-in the gullible and it still sells well today." Peter H. Gilmore.

That about sums up my frame of mind at the time . Just to be clear, I was not performing any satanic rituals, I was just really interested in the occult.
