You an keep all your American superheroes, when it comes to crime fighting, Miss Marple is where it's at.
Aye, but which MM? Margaret Rutherford? Joan Hickson? Helen Hayes (an American?…Never!)?

My personal favorite is Geraldine McEwan - it’s just a shame she didn’t have a cane infused with the mystical power of Albion, the Spirit Protector of England, so that when she tapped in thrice, she grew to the size of the Cerne Giant, summoned her pet dragon Rory, and made scones for everyone at cosmic speed.

Now that’s a Ms. Marple we want see on the big screen. Quick, get me Tarantino on line 2!

Joan Hickson, no one else compares.

No…she looks too much like my SIL, and it’s disturbing for me, because I end up rooting for the baddie to do her in.

I do like the Rutherford movies, even though I’m somewhat opposed to Marple being used for comic relief. Rutherford, though, just completely threw herself into that role, though, and was apparently quite like that in real life and rather unconventional as well, so I just like her for herself.

I’d be remiss if I didn’t mention the legendary Elsa Lanchester as Miss Marbles, in one of my favorite movies of all time, Murder By Death. She’s hilarious!
