What produce/ingredients did you buy or obtain today (2025)?

Just bought that chutney in a duty free shop at Dublin airport.. I was too intrigued to leave it there on the shelf!

I have an occasional stomach issue and have long since quit taking anything commercially prepared for such events. Ginger is currently the only item I've been using but today I'll be adding licorice!

I'm going to go with a tea made with 1 gram of steeped bits. There are precautions since this is the real deal, contains glycyrrhizin, so it won't be the primary go to.

Never had ponzu sauce before, but I bought a cookbook that uses it in several recipes, so I picked some up.

Whenever I buy rutabagas, they get entered by the cashier as turnips, and whenever I buy turnips, they get entered in as rutabagas. Today was no exception.

Perhaps you could really confuse them and buy both at the same time?

Not quite, sorry

What you've got there is a key component of it. :)

A Ploughman's Lunch is a meal typically sold in pubs which usually consists of bread, cold cuts (some kind of ham normally), cheese, and pickle - the most famous British brand being Branston, so your "Ploughman's Chutney" looks to be something like that.

...and it's definitely morphed over the past 50 years. When I was an adolescent, a Ploughman's was a chunk of crusty bread, a lump of Cheddar and a couple of pickled onions !
I did google some pics, just for fun - and they all look really fancy now. When we’ve had them, everything’s just smashed together on a plate, holding on for dear life!
