No Super Bowl for us, we found a new older series on Britbox, and we watched one of those - the series being Play for Today, which Wikipedia says ran from 1970-1984, for a whopping 300+ individual standalone episodes.
Never heard of it, and we loved the one we saw. ‘70’s British TV just has a certain…look about it (the same is true of American ‘70’s TV as well, of course) - the style is so dated, so are the title cards and credits and all that, but it a good way, a really good way.
The only quibble I have is, for whatever reason, Britbox doesn’t present them like episodes of a series, but as individual programs, so you really have to know what you’re looking for to find them all. They do that with a couple of other shows as well, and it’s infuriating.
But, anyway, it was really good, and we followed that up with the first of a three-part presentation of Agatha Christie’s “Why Didn’t They Ask Evans?” - the 2022 one, written and directed by Hugh Laurie. First installment was ok, but nothing to get excited about.
Finished up the night with an episode from season 3 of Only Murders in the Building. I don’t even care whodunit, I just like watching the chemistry between Steve Martin Short & Gomez.
