I've got some really good friends who organise "Gourmet Food Tours" around Caracas, and Monday last, they called me and said " How would you like to be our guest of honour this Saturday?"
(Guest of Honour means (a) everything is free and (b) I have to talk a lot. I'm happy with that)
We went to over a dozen places, but the final stop was an Artisan Microbrewery, which of course I refused to enter...:dance::dance::dance: It's called " La Esquina" (The Corner). Curious fact: the centre of Caracas (ie. the "old" part of the city) was designed by the Spanish in blocks, just like many places in the US. " It's two blocks down", etc. The corners of each block have enigmatic names, like "little birds", "the dead man", "watch out!", " Pepe the German" and so on. So this micro-brewery decided to call their beers after each "corner" of the city centre. Fantastic, and especially interesting from a marketing point of view.
Wonderful "tasting" we had this afternoon:

If you get a chance try aussie yellowtail wines. The reds are amazing.

Yellowtail wines are everywhere, here, even in a lot of 7-Eleven convenience stores. They are relatively cheap, and decent quality, if you like wine. My sister drinks the Merlot. I don't like dry red wines at all, so Merlot would not be for me.
