Whatcha drinking (2025)?

Is it in a box? 🤭
The box wines in the UK are pretty good and generally not the cheapest.
Tonights delight was from the corner shop and cost a mere £6 (that’s cheap here) and won’t be winning any awards any time soon 😂

This is my favourite motorcycling wine 😂
Flatten the box, slip the foil wine bag in your pannier and the ferry’s a doddle! 😂

Box wines are fine for everyday drinking, IMO - my MIL loved her nightly two glasses of Franzia blush (“…and an ice cube, please!”).

I’m glad I don’t know a damn thing about what’s supposed to be a “good” wine - it allows me to drink $4.99/bottle ALDI Winking Owl wines without shame - ignorance is bliss!

Well ferry wine is not cheap. Usually it’s £60 per bottle and one bottle is not enough for two bored people on a boat for over 20 hours so box wine becomes a lovely bargain!
£60/bottle!!! That's too rich for my blood; this  is Georgia btw. I tried drinking wines at some point and they just don't agree with my stomach. I can do middle of the road and up bourbon, vodka, and mix things with spiced rum, triple sec, and tequila. I make my own creme de cacao for my "dessert" after dinner nightcap. I've got a bottle of cabernet sauvignon and a bottle of chardonnay for cooking and that's the end of my alcohol stores.

APRIL 1ST!!!!
Dry March id DONE AND GONE!

Never have I ever had a Lemon Drop... delicious!
Over the past couple weeks of being sick, I was dreaming up different foods AND cocktails that I wanted to have once I was well and past my alcohol hiatus...
One of my Neighborhood Gal Pals gave me a bunch of fresh Lemons that I had zested and squeezed awhile back and finally got around to using.
I gave a sip to DH and he said that I put TOO much vodka in there ... NOPE!

Mr SSOAPP and I did get into wine a bit when a really good wine shop opened up in the village next to where the boys went to school. They only stock good stuff, know what they’re talking about and open in the evenings to host various themed alcohol tastings. A group of us would get together and go n have a lot of laughs.

We’d mark up which wines we’d enjoyed and the preceding wallet lubricant meant we always left with 12 bottles of whatever ones we rated most. It was most enjoyable.

Fortunately I have no need to drive out that way now and as I have no real interest in wine I never committed any of them to memory so am free to buy whatever plonk is on spesh off at the corner shop 😂

It is certainly a bit much but they have a captive audience and make the most of it 🙄

I enjoy a glass (or 2 or 3) of red wine. Not a fan of white.
Unfortunately wine is not cheap here. Beer is the go to drink and the Zambians that drink wine tend to go for sweet red (i once bought by mistake, it's horrendous)

No time for photos: Mixed Berry Martini - YUM!

[edit - as a side note: in my younger days, I drank vodka-infused cocktails exclusively - no wine, no beer ... and then one NYE, many moons ago, I got snockered and that was it for vodka, until now!]

I'm a Guinea pig atm for a guy that works with my wife
Hes doing home brew gin
My wife took him some empty ones from here. First bottle was a bit tart . Second bottle had a label macerated gin. He used real juniper berries. A lot better but not quite there yet.
Best thing is it's free.
