Are you referring to the Italian foreign film, which takes place during World War II ? It won an Oscar for the Best Foreign Film. I went through a whole box of Kleenex ! Phenomenal film but extraordinarily sad .. and steeped in the catastrophes of that War ..

The Italian film is called A Beautiful Life ..

Yes, I have seen the silver screen classic with Lionel Barrymore, Donna Reed and James Stewart quite some time ago .. A wonderful film ..

I am a grand fan of the silver screen & its blk and wht films.

My fave is Casablanca .. A truly grand masterpiece .. and another fave is: Tyrone Power and Ava Gardner, who starred in an Ernest Hemmingway classic, Fiesta - However, off top, I cannot recall name in English at momento but it takes place in Pamplona, Navarre, Spain & Paris ..
