I was a vegetarian (actually more of a pescatarian) back in my 20s (1980s) for about 2 years. Thee just weren't lot of options back then. Thats about the time Morningstar came out with their veggie burgers, which tasted nothing like meat and that was fine by me. They were a sodium bomb but very tasty. I fried them up in olive oil and ate them plain, no bun, no condiments.
There are some great alternative burgers out there now. I prefer the ones that are nothing like meat. I particularly liked a vegetable patty that’s ‘Birds Eye’ released. It got absolutely panned but enough people obviously liked it because it’s still sold and Ocado are cut throat about what products they carry, it has to shift!
