Finally, I managed to find some - in Lidl of all places. They were also very cheap - around £3/kilo - around half what my greengrocer was paying wholesale. Lidl must have locked into a contract with the producers before prevailing conditions saw the price rocket. Fair play to them for not taking advantage and putting up the price.

I got some from Tesco £2 for 450g so more expensive than Lidl.
