The most difficult jigsaw I ever owned was about 1500 pieces (as I remember). The bad patch was a quite large area of roses caught in a patch of shadow.
Damn that patch was torture.

We'd do it in bits. A half an hour here, a half an hour there; it's surprising what positive results you can achieve when you leave something for a while.Still, the Mexico jigsaws generally took us 3-4 weeks!
