A greater spotted woodpecker! I get them in my garden too. But I didn't realise they were widespread in Asia too.

We don't get many of that variety, although quite a few hoopoes about at certain times of year. Not a good picture I'm afraid.

It's not a greater spotted, it's a stripe breasted woodpecker (Dendrocopos atratus)

I wouldn't have a clue. I only guessed that it was a woodpecker because it was pecking wood.

Now, in America, our national symbol is easy to tell by their frustratingly unsuccessful use of minoxidil.

You know, we even have a immigrant marsupial from Ireland, the O'Possum.

But getting back to birds, I'm sure you and I can truely appreciate a nice pair of Boobies.
