I wouldn't go as far as Michael Portillo, but I do have a pair of red trousers, and I as I type this I am wearing lilac shorts and a pair of bright red Dudes.

TBH, men wearing colored jeans (other than blue or tan) is unusual here and somewhat looked down upon.
That's probably why I do it.
I rather like dressing up. Brightly coloured shorts, and also more formal wear, dinner jacket and bow tie.
Same here. Between Thanksgiving and New Year's, I spend a lot of time in one of my three velvet jackets, just so I can be the only dude in velvet at McD's.
I've got pond envy again...

We had a pond once (no fish) the only thing it attracted were Bufo marinas, marine toads, highly toxic to dogs. Though somewhere in the gene pool there must have been a glitch as there are those that lick these toads to get high. 
Oh, as a puppy, one of our pugs leaped from my lap, right into the pond. I had to rescue her.
