West Side Market. One of my very favorite places for food shopping. Unfortunately, it's about 650 miles away from where we live. Still, we make two pilgrimages a year when we visit our kids in summer and at Christmas.

About 15 years ago the local Surin Governors arranged for a silk "brocade" to be woven by women in the numerous villages of the province. The result was a 2 kilometre length of silk which was carried through Surin by representatives of each village during that year's Elephant Parade.

Absolutely amazing. Thank you for the historical background. I bought mine in Bangkok ! I use them in the autumn and Winter time ..

Yes, I have been aware of the giant looms .. An incredible artisanal craft ..

That would be a wonderful idea .. Whenever, you can get down there again ..
