Sounds similar to UK fishing, i.e. here in UK we ship a lot of what is caught to Europe...great shame - indicating most people having limited palates.
But why is it that UK lobster is exported, while people here have to have imported lobsters? The same applies to quite a few other foods too.

I don't think lobsters are what we export...it's other fish and shellfish mostly.
