Your rarer ingredients and goods.

That's a shame. Never mind - plan a road trip, meet up with Tasty, go eat some biscuits and gravy and make a pit stop at El Valle Verde.
Although...I did find some here Mexicana in NE Ohio
Yes, thank you. I had googled and seen a few before. Unfortunately I'll have to take my bodyguard with me since I don't own a weapon and a conceal and carry license! But I do thank you, that was very thoughtful of you.

I used to work with a guy in Minnesota who liked Popeye’s chicken, and the only Popeye’s in the entire state was in the absolute worst neighborhood.

Every couple of months, he’d ask to follow him to Popeye’s on the way home and sit in the parking lot, while he went through and nervously bought chicken, just to come to his rescue in case he got attacked.

I've the same problem here. There are two of them in the Akron area and I'd worry my tires would be gone by the time I got back to the parking lot (and I'd possibly have my purse ripped from my shoulder on the way out). Where I grew up in Florida we had a Popeyes in a nice area so I was very sad that I couldn't eat there anymore.

We have Popeyes everywhere here, but I love Church's chicken, not really anything else of theirs, just the chicken. There are only 2 anywhere close and even both of those are a drive, and they are in areas similar to what Tasty and Jas described above. I'd chance 1 of them in the daytime around lunch time so there's lots of activity and that one happens to have a drive through. The other 1, don't think so, even in the daytime.

We had a few Church's here but it was the same thing! They were about a mile from the Popeye locations, LOL. All of them are out of business now. They have Church's in Fort Walton Beach (near Destin, FL where I lived) or at least they used to. No idea if they are still there.

It goes without saying that unless it's in my supermarket or my garden, I have to order it online and wait.

Quite a lot of Korean, Chinese and Japanese stuff is available in my supermarket, but some items surprise me when they're not. I forgot that the Indian side of the supermarket is much smaller, so I can't get methi or fenugreek leaves, but I can get the seeds.

Quite a bit of Turkish stuff isn't available and same with European food that I've grown up with, so I tend to have to get a reasonable amount online.

Diamond Bakery Soda Crackers & Royal Creem Crackers (I have found these in a few shops here on the "mainland" but very few and far between)
and
Inamona

The crackers I order directly from Honolulu whenever they offer free shipping

The Inamona I use in Poke, not easy to get, but I found a Poke Shop in Honolulu who would sell me a bit. I brought it home, frozen in my checked baggage. I was told it could last a good long time, so ...

What I can not get anywhere here in the continental US is Green Ti Leaves to make my own Laulau. I can buy frozen Laulau in Las Vegas and in California, not the same.

There are also certain brands of things I like that only one store will carry, like Swaggerty’s breakfast sausage (Meijer).

We used to have a supermarket that was based out of Cleveland, and that opened a whole new set of products to me that I’d never had before, especially sausages and other meats from Cleveland butchers that normally isn’t available down where I’m at (3-4 hours south of Cleveland).

Then there’s the stuff we get from the Mom-and-Pop shops, like the lunchmeats and cheeses I’ve posted recently…the doughnuts from the Amish bakery, etc.
I swear I saw this sausage at our local Fry's aka Kroger ... I'll need to look for it!

Yeah, it's weird how that works. I'm a breakfast sausage and lunchmeat aficionado, and I can tell you where to get what breakfast sausage and lunchmeat in a 40-mile radius around my house:

Swaggerty's is at just about any Meijer. Tennessee Pride, Bob Evans, Jimmy Dean...everywhere. Weber's...IGA and Meijer, except for Weber's smoked breakfast sausage...that is at a single Meijer location.

Boar's Head...Big Kroger and DLM. Deitz & Watson...Meijer. Sara Lee, Butterball...regular Kroger...Sahlen's & Bluegrass Meats...my local Kroger only.
