I hate the smell of burnt toast. I didn't realise until today though that my OH doesn't get the same taste as I do when eating burnt toast and doesn't understand why I don't just eat it, or scrap the burnt stuff off and eat the remains. Either way burnt toast tastes bitter to me.

Am I the only one who hated burnt toast?

I think I just got used to scraping it off because my mom always burned it and we weren't allowed to throw it away, we had to scrape it. I don't burn toast very often as an adult but it occasionally happens.

I'll rarely burn it when making grilled sandwiches but even then it's not bad and if it is eat it anyway; already $'s on the bread so don't toss.

I truly cannot abide burnt toast.
The smell, the taste, the sight of it makes me shudder!

I rarely burn toast because my mum always did. It was the smell of the morning right before she started shouting at us, absolutely hate it.

If I ever burn toast it goes straight in the bin, the sound of it being scrapped is awful, you knew you were heading downstairs straight into her having one of her tantrums.
Aah happy days.. not!

Sounds like we're in the minority. That smell just makes me want to heave.
My mum used to burn it a lot, scrap it and then expect us to eat it. Back then on the 70's I know there was no money to spare, but I can afford not to eat burnt toast nowadays. It is one of the very few things I will throw away.

I don't like it either. Like others, I will scrape if it's just a little burnt. Too much though and out it goes.

We rarely have toast, so no toaster, but the Tovala oven has a toast setting and you can choose from 1-5 with an auto shut off, so no more burnt toast.

Sadly my mums scrapped black toast wasn’t to do with frugality. In fact scrapping it was her version of care as usually it would just be served burnt and covered in beans or spaghetti!

Last night I purpously burnt some toast to tear up and put in my Scotch broth soup. I really like the the bitter taste contrasting with more soothing comforting flavours.

I think its me that is in the minority here.
Scotch broth soup??? Tell me more please!!!
