But isn’t that stuff present in all toast? Or is it worse if the toast is burnt? It doesn’t explain why, just says it’s invisible white stuff.
Edit: I read the potato post and it makes sense now.

I had a terrible burn’t toast experience yesterday. First off Mr SSOAP toasted some pancakes and slightly burnt them, it was very mild so tolerable smell wise, then one son came in a semi burnt his pancakes, then Mr SSOAP got up and did a second round that he also properly burnt.
I then snapped at them “Can you stop burning things, I have to stay in here and it stinks”
They both got very uppity with me
Then when sorting out the toast for the tuna melts they were too under done so I asked my other son who was standing next to the toaster to pop them back down and keep an eye on them. He got gabbing and.. yep you know the rest
That smell, theres just something about it
