Christmas 2022

But doesn't a Caesar salad have meat in it?
The original Caesar Salad (prepared in Tijuana, Mexico) was apparently a Romaine lettuce salad, with toasted croutons, shaved Parmesan and a mayonnaise sauce prepared with beaten egg , olive oil, a smashed anchovy, garlic, salt and pepper.
I can remember being invited to the popular Meat restaurants in Caracas, where the waiters would prepare it tableside. Sometimes, they added a splash of brandy. Other times, Worcestershire sauce , or even soy sauce. Others would do all that, then add a tablespoon of Kraft Mayo:eek:.
Your salad would usually be pretty traditional, but a few places would adorn it with bacon bits, or use watercress leaves instead of lettuce.

With everything that has been going on over the past, what is it now? Month and a half, and now DH has the Flu, we've decided to postpone Mom's birthday (December 16th), Christmas Eve Dinner of the feast of the seven fishes, Christmas morning brunch, followed by the exchanging of gifts, and probably New Years Eve & Day.
We three will reschedule all of the above for a later date.

Take good care of each other - flu is hitting our area hard, and it seems to be an especially brutal strain this year.

We've been told the same here in Cowboyville Arizona USA TastyReuben ... DH INSISTED that he had Covid ... two rapid tests later ... finally the pharmacist said, "Buck up dude, you've got the crud aka the flu. I'm seeing this alot, I mean alot."
DH had a tele-med appointment two days ago with the Pulmonologist and DH made mention that he hasn't really sleep since the ending of September, so Doc prescribed a sleeping pill. He took the first one last night and that did the trick!
The one caveat is that he's so groggy today, he's gone back to bed TWICE already today and it's only 430pm AST.

Mrs. Yorky has decided we are to decorate the Christmas Tree again this year.

I may take pictures later.

Later.......

The tree had to be taken inside yesterday evening - there was quite a wuther blowing; and it still is today.

It seems our retailers have upped the prices again now Christmas is coming, our regular shop is suddenly 20 euros more expensive and that's with the cheapest delivery service I tried. I normally spend about 80 to 90 euros in groceries each week, but this week it will be 105. Hope it doesn't stay like that .

I just got home from the Frisco Bowl. My team lost, but it was a close game. 35-32. I froze my a$$ off. It was 34F/1C.

Boise State won the game, but now they have to go back to Boise.

It won't help you I know, but over here the major supermarkets have all been advertising price freezes on x many essential grocery items, matching last year's prices and hold those prices in place until the middle of January. I've no idea what will happen when those price freezes are lifted though. It won't be pretty. We've already moved over to quite a bit more veg being from the frozen section rather than fresh, not to mention what I try to grow (try because the weather is not cooperating with growing some stuff this year, all the tender stuff is barely in leaf, let alone producing flowers).

The New Year isn't going to be pretty financially!

They’ve been doing something similar here, setting prices back to 2019 levels on things traditionally associated with the holidays (turkey, ham, etc).

Here is how I look at current inflation. It is mostly because of an ego-maniac (Putin), and it is unpleasant. But, what we are going through is nothing compared to what the Ukrainian people are suffering.

I am willing to pay more for things, and hope the people of Ukraine prevail, and have their freedom.
