Halloween 2024

We're in a rural area and some years we have loads of kids come `round "trick or treating" so I always have a goodly amount of assorted "fun sized" candies as well as a cooler full of those mini bottled waters for the kiddos.
That's thirsty work ya know!
As to my décor I keep it simple, both inside and out.
Well now you have mentioned your Halloween decor, we all want to see it!

Anybody cooking anything special for Halloween?

I'm making pumpkin soup, with garlic bread. I might make a cake with a 'bloody' glaze or filling, but I am not sure yet. I have bought Halloween themed macarons.
Because I am going to a michelin starred restaurant this weekend I've kept celebrations more minimal than I usually do.

We've been here for 34 years and never had trick nor treat at our door. Our daughter just left here as I'm watching eli..she said you put it on an app if you have treats. She went out and got plenty of treats from their neighbors . Also she ssid a balloon on front fence indicates you have lollies etc.

No kids this year…bowl of M&M packets are mine, all mine (by which I mean, they’re MrsT’s)!

No kids here too but that's because Halloween here is almost exclusively celebrated by pagans like me, who are a minority
You know I don't think it was celebrated in the UK until relatively recently. I think its an American import. It certainly wasn't a thing when I was a kid.

We lived in two locations when we were there in the ‘90’s, and we made a point to live off the air base and in the local community both times, and also worked to find houses that weren’t in established “American” neighborhoods. We wanted a different experience.

Didn’t matter - come Halloween, we got a handful of neighborhood kids, in their regular clothes, knocking on our door, asking for candy. Our house only. We loved it!

The only time I've lived in a town/ city was back in the 90's after graduating from university and moving south for a job. We ended up in Woking, Surrey. The first year we were there (1994) we were inundated with kids wanting sweets. After that we always booked a meal out that night, to get away from it all.

Halloween 2024 here in Cowboyville Arizona USA was a blast!
Not as many kiddos as we've had in the past, but still enough that my caldron of candy was just about empty and only one bottle of water left.
We even had our local Fire Department Ladder Truck `round and passed out candies to the kids and played "Thriller" by Michael Jackson of the PA, we were all having a great time... albeit freezing cold!

TastyReuben not sure exactly what the temp was when I came back inside at 8pm, but all of my exposed skin was well chilled.
I had on two outer layers, wool socks and boots... I didn't notice because I was just having too much fun. Almost all of the kids had on homemade costumes... had never heard, "trick or treat, smell my feet, give me something good to eat" before. They all giggled, took their candy and bottled water, ran to the next house yelling, "trick or treat, smell me feet ..." I bet their parents loved me :thankyou:
