How is the corona virus affecting you?

Well, as it looks like face masks will be with us for the foreseeable future, I did something this morning I couldn't have imagined 45 days ago; I spent an hour googling "fashion face masks," to buy - if I have to wear a face mask every day, I'm going to look my best doing so. 🎭

I have yet to wear one. I haven't been out for over 3 weeks!

[Edit: I just checked - it's been almost 5 weeks (20th March last time]

Dear Sarana
I don't know how I missed this post. I am so very sorry. No parent ever thinks that they will outlive their children. My Middle Brother was killed in a car accident when he was 17, a month before his graduation from high school. My Mother said that the only thing that kept her going was having other young children to care for. She also said that she wanted to talk about the accident and him. Charlie died 44 years ago this month. We still talk about him. His nieces and nephews never met him but they know him from all of the stories they have heard about their Uncle Charlie. Your son will live on in the hearts and memories of all who love him.
Something that helped Mother was writing the stories and memories in a journal. Not now , your pain is too raw.
Later when you wake in the middle of the night thinking of him
Later when you find yourself distracted from what you want to do by your memories. Let your love, your pain, your grief and all of the good memories pour out on paper.
This community cares about you and is here to support you.
🙏🙏🙏😢

Here in Ohio, we can still bring our own bags, we just have to load them ourselves. I just bought these today:

I normally do scan-and-bag, so these will be great - no one has to touch them except me.

Thanks, but they still won't let me used them because they'll have come from home, meaning the same thing!! They'll think that they've become infected with so-called germs & bacteria!!:stop:

Now Frigging Whole Foods won't ley anyone shop there without wearing a mask!!! They've gone from, worst to ridiculous!!!

Oh my God, I am so so sorry for your loss... my sincere condolences. (((((Hug)))))

Several cities and counties in Texas are requiring face coverings in public.
The grocery bag thing kind of trips me out. I have been using my own bags for years. I don't use plastic even for my produce. I seriously don't want plastic now. I don't have much choice with pick up and delivery. The groceries go to the patio. I unpack, in mask and gloves and wash everything in hot soapy water with a bit of bleach. When done the bags and the gloves go into the outside trash can and the face covering is washed.
I never would have dreamed how much our world and our lives could change so quickly. Two months ago on the 26th we were having dinner at my favorite restaurant. Today I can not get Mommie hugs or Sibling hugs.
Some mornings I wake up think "Wow, what a horrible nightmare" then realize that this is reality and not a horrid dream.
So many members of this community have been sick. Dear Sarana has lost both her brother and her son to this invisible enemy. This morning my brother's sister-in-law died from Covid19.
We are both high risk. G will be 73 next month. He has an artificial heart valve, high blood pressure, high cholesterol and is obese. I am 67, have coronary disease with high blood pressure and high cholesterol.
Even the young and healthy are at risk.
George Stephanopoulos, a news anchor on Good Morning America has tested positive for Covid19. His wife has been very ill with Covid. George was asymptomatic. THAT scares me. There are so many people out there walking around without protection, feeling good, thinking they do not have to worry. Deadly arrogance. An asymptomatic person with Covid19 is a walking plague.
Ok
I REALLY need to shut up. IDK if you are not worried about yourself or your family. Get over it. No one has the right to put others in danger.

What worries me, and I didn't actually look at the article so not sure if it was tongue in cheek or not, was a p!ea supposedly from the makers of Lysol asking people not to drink their product.

That rule has been in place here for two months in all the supermarkets/food shops (which are the only shops currently open). Earlier this month it became a requirement that everyone outside their own homes had to wear a mask. The fines for not doing so are considerable.

As of yesterday, there have been 2,854 cases of Coronavirus reported, 50 of whom have died. Our population is around 70,000,000.

I read that and thought "Who in their right mind would do such a thing" on second thought there is no cure for stupid.

As above, this is genuine. UK manufacturers of bleach have had to put out similar statements.

I know that the owners of this site do not want political discussion and I accept that, but the whole World has watched Trump suggesting injecting disinfectant or UV blasting bodies as a cure and have predictably not been surprised. We have also seen and heard the arguements of the anti lockdown protestors encouraged by the US President and I'm sorry to contradict them, but this is not a media hoax, and Jesus is not your vaccine.

We know the Chinese government is lying, we know that several European leaders and others across the World have dropped the ball, including here in Britain, but we trust that our leaders are now scrambling to do their best; except in two countries, one of them is Brazil, the other used to sit at the head of the global table.

I repeat - there is no cure for stupid. Seriously - I am embarrassed and ashamed. Don't get me wrong. I do not want to have to deal with the wackos on the other side of the aisle. Oh cr@p Sorry for the political inference.
