How is the corona virus affecting you?

I've been having fairly odd dreams and sort of remembering them. Not nightmares, just weird. Well, i take that back about the nightmares, did have 1, a doozy, and I do remember that one vividly unfortunately.

A long-standing friend of mine has a birthday today. I've known her since 1974. She called today to say thank you for the present we sent her and there were a few tears of sadness that we cannot meet (she lives in County Durham).

A couple of lines from a lovely song by the late Phil Chevron (once of the Pogues) came to mind. The song is called Faithful Departed and has been recorded by the great Christy Moore.

Close our eyes and we'll pretend
It could somehow be the same again

People baffle me. There's a fellow in our street who walks round with a disinfectant spray all the time and religiously sprays just about anything he's going to touch, yet yesterday, he was chatting away to a couple of people (nowhere near two metres) and then giving them big hugs and hand clasps.
One of my wife's friends posted on FB about how it was her mother's birthday and they were both sad because of the current situation, she could only visit her from the car in her driveway.

Then she posted a pic of her aged mom reaching in through the lowered window so they could hug each other. :headshake:

Shopping last night, one thing I did notice is that Kroger has reopened their meat case. Up til now, it has been shuttered, and the only meat available was the pre-wrapped, pre-weighed, pre-priced stuff out on the floor.

Also curious how this slow reopen is going to go. The governor announced the first steps to start tomorrow, but judging from the shoppers last night, they're getting a head start. No social distancing whatsoever, and mask use was down to around 40%.

I have weird and vivid dreams every time I sleep. Very rarely are they nightmares, although some are disturbing. I don't remember individual dreams very long after I wake up, but remember having a dream. I also remember reoccurring themes. I often wake up with a dream fresh in my head, and wonder how in the world my brain came up with that.

No difference since Covid, and so far, no Covid related dreams that I can recall.

I dreamt last night that my nephew-in-law was looking for a vintage Indian motorcycle, and he said his budget was "two dollars to no limit," and in my dream, I asked him why he bothered setting a lower limit if there was no upper limit, like if I found him one for $1.99, would be not be interested in that one, but I never got an answer.

There's a (grotty) pub in our street and the plonker that owns it has evidently decided that this is a good time to do it up a bit. And the upshot is that we've got people going in and out all the time, brushing past each other and standing around for a fag break while talking away to each other about six inches apart.

Mind-numbing.

I was a few minutes late to start a meeting I was running on Tuesday, and the reason I was late was one I've never used before. My wife had her purse on the floor, and our new puppy jumped from the couch to a side table and knocked a Diet Coke can into her purse. Fortunately, she didn't have her phone in the purse.

I can honestly say that I have never delayed the start of a meeting due to a puppy-related incident. The meeting attendees had a good laugh at that, so no harm done.

Not, I assure you, an attempt at one-upmanship, but I was reminded of the time when I was working in Ethiopia and two goats came rushing into my office. The goats were followed by a small boy, who managed to usher them out while issuing a stream of apologies.

I didn't mind. It was a lot more interesting than what I was working on.

I hope he's feeling better soon.

Is this the lively one?

Lol, people huh, I look out from upstairs over our footpath, a reasonably busy footpath. We have a guy walk past every night dressed as darth Vader. Long flowing cape and all. I've given up on working him out. Same as the guy who uses free wifi across the road from me. There texting every night from 7 ish to midnight. Given up on working him out too. There really are some strange people out there.
