How is the corona virus affecting you?

In the latest hilarious episode of Oh Dear Oh Dear Minister, Health Secretary "Door" Matt Hancock has spent the last three months lauding a tracing app (costing millions of pounds of taxpayers' money) as "world beating," despite it being described by all manner of experts as useless. In the latest magnificent, rib-tickling U-turn, Matt appears before the press to inform us that the app is useless and will be withdrawn.
They did their best to bury the story under the visit from Macron, and then the announcement that the Covid alert level is today dropping from level 4 to level 3. World beating stuff, that's for sure.

Exact same thing here, when I heard the guvment were involved with it, note to self, don't buy into it.
We had a cop shot dead in the street yesterday so pressures off our unhealthy minister. He's hanging by a thread.

For those outside the UK, here on Wednesday is our Health Minister Matt Hancock in Parliament. For context he is the one responsible for the social distancing rule of 2m. Brain dead Matt is the second guy who comes in on the left, watch the guy in the middle have a wtf moment.

If you think your guys in NZ are idiots, we have 42,000 dead

Pfft, that all. We are at 121,407 dead, here. We're being told by the President that it is practically over. Covid-19 is going away as I write this. 23 states are having spikes, including some record-setting days, but ignore that, the economy is GREAT! :scratchhead:

CD

And we still have only 58 dead.

Apparently.

You have our sympathy... following social media apparently America is made up of either communists or fascists these days and you have to pick a side. At least in Britain we can see behind left and right and agree when those in power have screwed up, OK we disagree about if they can be forgiven, but we don't tend to let political dogma completely wall off opinions like Americans appear to do* and we almost entirely share in the pain despite what our political leaders try to do.

*The fact that the only secure wall Trump has built surrounds the Whitehouse has not passed the rest of us by.

Is it true that he's planning a rally alongside(!) a BLM protest in an area that's got one of the highest infections rates?

He has a Rally in Tulsa. It was going to be today, which is Juneteenth, a day marking the end of Slavery in the US. He moved it to Saturday. There was a Junteenth rally at OSU today.

Trump really stepped in it by not knowing what Juneteenth is. His aides had to tell him. Tulsa is also the home of the worst race massacre in US history. White people came to a once prosperous black neighborhood Black Wall Street, burned it down, and killed anywhere up to 300 residents (no official count was done) in 1921. He didn't know about that, either.

But, thread related news, a lot of people in Tulsa are not happy about the Rally due to Covid-19 spread, as thousands pack into a small arena for the rally.

Our health guys are nil, more cases today, one guy was homeless, he just got on the bus and the load of people went to a hotel for two weeks quarantine. $368 a night plus three meals a day. They realised in the 12th day of testing when they asked for id. They really have no idea, contrary to what the world think.

CNN and fox keep me up to date, I can't believe they're still going to Oklahoma. Not good!!

About 3 0r 4 weeks ago our local governor opened the local border crossing to the Cambodians for medical purposes. There is no official paperwork required (other than the crinkly type, no doubt) and today there were many Khmer registered vehicles (no doubt transporting whole families) in our local supermarket car parks.

That same story was on the news last night. Exact!

I see spikes in Melbourne, watching Sky news they are talking about shutting down suburbs with the police. Seems areas of immigrants have still been working because of need, during shutdown. That's caused outbreak now. I'm just watching the riots in France at the moment. On French channel.

Well, the Trump Rally was supposed to draw 200,000 people -- in a 19,000 person arena. Seems the arena is only about half full, and some people are wearing masks, which were not required (or suggested).

But his supporters are still 100-percent behind him. When you are a true believer, facts don't matter. I'm thinking George Orwell is looking down and having a good laugh at us.
