How is the corona virus affecting you?

We’ve had a stay at home orders here For about two weeks, but every day I find myself going out.

Each animal has a different personality. As it turns out, both black pugs we had were little lunatics when they were babies. Pepper - who's going to be 4 - is the best dog we ever had. His high-energy antics faded as he got older. He was potty trained more quickly than any other dog we've ever had, too. This one is going to be more of a challenge, but I'm sure he's going to be a great dog, too.
medtran49: I have an update. While Pepper is still the best dog we've ever had, the new one - Wilbur - is still a lunatic. At nearly 5 months, he still sneaks into different parts of the house to go potty; he definitely knows he's not supposed to, because he runs to hide whenever we find his latest "accident". He still tries to bite, though not as much as before. He's a little stinker, but he's also adorable when he calms down. At least we have more time at home to keep an eye on him.

Did you neuter him? They calm down a lot after that, but little boy pugs, especially little black guys, seem to have issues with potty regardless life long, especially #2, it's like they have no control. The little black guy I had previously, would "bite" when playing for the longest time and had a tendency to badly react (think Cujo) to being yelled at and/or swatted. I think the person who had him before abused him to a certain extent because he was absolutely terrified of grocery size paper bags and newspaper being rattled. The vet figured he was about a year old when we got him and it took a very long time for him to calm down completely. It took me years to be able to cut his nails without an all out fight with squirming, squealing and trying to bite.

The one we have now just turned 5 and he barks at EVERYTHING, and will not hush, even if it's just a chuff at the end so that he can have the last word. He's also a car/other dog/duck chaser if he gets the chance, which is not often, but he does catch us unaware on rare occasions and jerks the leash out of our hands. He's also EXTREMELY protective of me and our female pug. He doesn't want any stranger coming up to us and has a fit, but then when the person makes nice, he's all for pets from them.

We are planning to bring him in right at 6 months, which is usually when they're recommended for neutering. I should probably make an appointment now so we don't have to wait any longer to calm him down!

Well, I can say my legs, arms, and head/face are darker than they usually are.

First, it's been a hot/bright Spring, and I've been outside more than I usually am, just doing yard work, planting flowers, all that stuff.

Second, because I'm not really going anywhere, I've been wearing a lot of shorts and t-shirts. This is significant because I was raised in the very firm belief that no self-respecting grown-azz man should ever, under any circumstance whatsoever, ever wear short pants or short-sleeved shirts, especially t-shirts. Short pants are for females and schoolboys. Period. That's how I was raised.

The fact that I don't really have anywhere to go and the heat has made me rethink that a bit, and now my skin has gone from paler than a virginal miss in a Jane Austen book to...ever so slightly less pale than a virginal miss in a Jane Austen book.

We are over it. I’ve been home for 4 weeks. Go back to work tomorrow. Wife went back Friday. After week three we finally left the house. Grocery store, Home Depot and Target. We won’t go anywhere unless we have to. As for restaurants, I don’t see us going to any for awhile. By that I mean a long time. We did order pizza Friday but that is only because we were both exhausted. Ordered it, picked it up and went home to eat it

Yesterday was a big day for me. I had an appointment with my hairdresser!!! I have not been out in months except to pick up an order from Walmart or a quick run into my local market with mask and gloves.
Sheila is the best stylist I have had in decades. She really loves what she does. She is also an advocate for continuing education. She has instructors come into her shop and insists that all of the stylist in the salon attend the sessions even if it means giving up their day off. Sheila follows the rules. She meets clients at the door to take their temperature and make sure they are wearing a mask. All of the stylist wear mask and gloves. They are meticulous about sanitizing all surfaces after each client. I had to use the restroom while I was there. As soon as I walked out Sheila went in to sanitize the toilet, wash basin and door knobs. It is a trick to get a cut and color while wearing a mask. I had to hold the mask in place while she worked. I was very happy that Sheila's business survived. She had to continue to pay rent on her salon while she was closed.
I feel a lot better with a good hair cut and a fresh color.
Went out Thursday and got my haircut. First time since February. You have to make an appointment. They cleaned before, during and after. Got it cut shorter than I normally do because it may be months before I feel going out to get one.

So my sister evacuated Pakistan on March 26th, arrived in the states March 27th, the Department of State originally told her she would be returning to Pakistan on June 1st (right after Ramadan and the Festival of Eid where there were no precautions or social distancing). Wrong. I knew it, she kept telling me she was going back June 1st. Then they told her around the end of May she would be going back by the end of July. Well she is still in the US and is now told she may not be able to go back. At all.

There are about 220 million people in Pakistan. They are hitting over 6,000 cases a day right now, and they have had about 180,000 confirmed cases (which means there are undoubtedly many, many more who haven't been tested). They are turning people away from the hospitals and have no beds for them. It's very, very sad what those people are going through, though. Even though there are a lot of flaws with our health system, I'd say we are pretty lucky in the US.

So she is retiring in September and has a house full of stuff on the embassy compound that needs to come back to the US, so I guess someone else will have to pack it and send it to D.C. for her. I sure don't see how the disease is going to run it's course by then through a population that size.

My Father's Day dinner was at home. I cooked 8 ounce sirloin steaks in a cast iron pan (my new favorite way to cook steaks), and sauteed a bunch of mushrooms. We also made potato wedges (baked, but brushed with bacon grease). Probably the best (and maybe the cheapest) Father's Day dinner I've ever had.

We're learning in the US that the severity of the coronavirus is really just a state of mind. It's exactly as good or as bad as you think it is, numbers be damned! :)
Ultimately it does come down to how many strangers lives you are willing to sacrifice so you can have your burger.

Not a flippant point, heard immunity was the original policy of the British Government until they worked out that willingly letting half a million of your voters die wasn't going to get you re-elected.
