It's that time of year again: Christmas 2021

I just hope and pray no-one sends me one of these:

Ah, family photo Christmas cards. Is this just an American thing?

CD
I think yes it is just an American thing.
But actually, I shouldn't try to speak for the rest of the world  so instead I'll just say that its not a big thing over here, and I don't think I've never seen one in real life (and I find the whole idea rather cringe-worthy).

Fortunately it does seem to be confined to the Royal Family and some politicians, neither group is likely to send me a card.

I've received six Christmas cards to date. Four of them are family photo cards.

At least people seem to have stopped (for the most part) with the included family update letter. That was the worst!

Yikes, that was the most cringeworthy of all. We had a second cousin (or something) who used to send those.
" Marianne has just graduated from Kindergarten and is now p**ing all on her own! No more diapers! What a clever girl! Johnny is an occasional fullback for the school under-7 soccer team and has demonstrated remarkable levels of concentration (How mature!!) since he can watch 30 episodes of The Simpsons without blinking. Maud the geriatric cat finally passed last month at the age of 15 and we´re putting a memorial Cat Statue in the front garden"...:hyper::hyper::hyper::hyper:

I got another one today. It's the annual card and family update letter from my Aunt. I have two more of those sure to arrive any day now. I haven't read the one I got today, yet. Not sure how I will read those family update letters people send while I'm sober.

I'm sat here addressing a batch of Christmas cards, and it's very surreal to have to look up my parents' address for the first time in...well, ever. 😕

We received our first Christmas card yesterday. it's from the UK. unfranked so until it gets opened the last weekend before Christmas we won't know Who its from, but I think it's from my brother-in-law, his wife & our nephew...

My mother keeps asking if her's has arrived yet - nope. She'll be upset if they don't arrive because not only is our Christmas card in there, but so are cards for friends she made Whilst over here last year whilst stranded, along with our wedding anniversary card & my birthday card. Royal Mail guarenteed 8 days for delivery. I'm guessing they didn't consult the Australian postal service...
