When growing up my mum had string hung from ceiling with cards. Up to 150, many I think were reciprocal.Ah, family photo Christmas cards. Is this just an American thing?

Fortunately it does seem to be confined to the Royal Family and some politicians, neither group is likely to send me a card.I think yes it is just an American thing.
But actually, I shouldn't try to speak for the rest of the world so instead I'll just say that its not a big thing over here, and I don't think I've never seen one in real life (and I find the whole idea rather cringe-worthy).
I remember 1 card with a family photo when I was a kid and I believe it was a polaroid. Haven't seen another in the wild for 60 years but I'm sure there out there.Fortunately it does seem to be confined to the Royal Family and some politicians, neither group is likely to send me a card.
Yikes, that was the most cringeworthy of all. We had a second cousin (or something) who used to send those. At least people seem to have stopped (for the most part) with the included family update letter
I've received six Christmas cards to date. Four of them are family photo cards.
At least people seem to have stopped (for the most part) with the included family update letter. That was the worst!
