I’m always talking about this market or that grocery store, so I think I’ll post a pic of the four or five I frequent the most, starting with:

That’s my hometown Kroger, which I usually refer as “regular Kroger,” or “small Kroger,” to distinguish it from the larger Kroger Marketplace stores.

I’m in this Kroger 2-3 times a week, I know virtually everyone who works there, and most of them know me, by sight if not by name. I very much like the people who work there, but even though it’s been recently refurbished and expanded (hello, Starbucks and Little Clinic!), it’s still just about adequate for my needs.

This is my hometown ALDI, and of the six or so ALDI’s I visit, it’s actually my favorite one. I also know every worker there, they know me, and it’s also recently been completely overhauled and is quite nice inside. The manager prides herself on a spotless establishment and is always, always picking things up, straightening shelves, and keeping everything looking good. She’s always moving from one thing to the next. That’s why I like it, every day it looks brand new.

I’ll get pics of the rest of the stores as I go to them.

Let’s see yours! If you get all your groceries delivered, and you’re so inclined, maybe a screenshot from Google StreetView or something like that.

What do you mean by street view? Street view of what? My deliveries come from an anonymous warehouse somewhere.

Ahhh, so no brick-and-mortar shops at all…hmmmm, any secondary markets you order from, maybe, that have shops?

There are supermarkets that deliver from the local stores themselves plus all sorts of delivery type options such as Deliveroo where you can oder something within the hour from your local supermarket. I don't tend to use them, that's all.

You are unique, Morning Glory, in that you don't go to supermarkets. My bro (who was housebound) was the same.
I, on the other hand, am poles apart; nothing I enjoy more than nosying around a supermarket or farmer's market to see what wierd and wonderful things I can pick up :D
The other day I was in a new place, Rio supermarket, for no particular reason. found some imported, smoked cheese which had been marked as something completely different and less than half the price. Bought! Silly, really, because I didn't actually need it. Still, it was good!
In another place I found pomegranate molasses abandoned at the back of the shelf (probably because no-one knew what they were) and with a 2022 price tag.

What’s unique about that from where I live is that there’s no physical store presence as well as delivery.

I’m sure there’s something here like that (doesn’t Amazon do that?), but generally, any place that delivers also has physical shops for in-person shopping. Instacart, for example, is just a delivery service, but they shop from your local brick-and-mortar store, and Kroger delivers from their own warehouses, but they also have stores.

The UK us a small island so it makes sense to send deliveries out from a regional hub rather than individually picked from each store. The hub is a warehouse where the food is picked by full- time workers and drivers to distribute it. I prefer that really, because in theory it means it hasn't been sent to a supermarket and then sat on a shelf before being sent to me. Arguably it should be fresher.

This is another favorite “market” of mine:

No problem, but the pizza is not all that great. The keg is pretty good though. The beers at least, the food is so so
So…beer first, then pizza. That way, we won’t care so much about the pizza!
