Plans for today (2019-2022)

Why aren't you allowed to drive off and come back?
Colonoscopies, for whatever reason, you have to have someone physically present at all times. Normally, they make you wait in the waiting room, and even if you need to step out to use the restroom across the hall, you have to let the staff know where you're going. No leaving for lunch, no "I'll be back in 30 minutes," none of that.

I suppose if things go bad in a hurry, they want someone there on the spot. I don't really know.

Why? There will be people (medics) present with her in the hospital. What is the rationale of you being there too? Surely there must be lots of people who for whatever reason have no-one with them.

Do you mean as an emotional support in case its bad news?

Colonoscopy today for MrsT. I'm going to just take the day off, because it'll take the better of the day to get there, get the procedure done, and get her back home.

I'm not allowed to leave the facility while she's there. Unfortunately, with Covid, I'm also not allowed in the facility while she's there, so they've come up with the brilliant idea that I can sit in the car in the parking area for the couple of hours this'll take. Today, high of 40F/5C and wind gusts of 30/40mph. Should be fun. 😒

Crossed fingers for Mrs.Tasty, hope everything will go well 💪🏻🌸

And I hope everything will go ok for you too. Here is allowed max 1 family person to stay in the facility.

I have strict orders to get bananas today.
They are practically free at COSTCO.
From Nicaragua are the sweetest. Streets ahead of everyone else in flavor.
Then a 6 qt case of Mobil One for $22 is a steal too.

I have no idea. Between the two of us, this is the fourth scope in a dozen years (two each), and its always been that way. No leaving the premises. Period. End of. Sit down and shut up.

I always get a kick out of sitting in the waiting room, because you can tell who's there for their first one - they're the ones arguing with the staff about having to stay. Us colonoscopy vets just motion them over to the holding pen and tell them gently it'll be all right.

Well, good news is, the interior of MrsT's bottom is spic-and-span, like polished granite, they say. No polyps, no nothing. And here she was convinced she had cancer, because her stomach has been upset and she's been constipated the couple of weeks.

Good for another 10 years. Now on to getting some lights up outside.

I don't know if this is across the entire country (US) but drivers aren't allowed to leave the premises in case there are complications. Colonoscopies (outside the military) are usually done with some kind of sedative (not full anesthesia though) so the risks are higher then for procedures that don't require a local anesthetic. Also, the driver has to be someone other than a medical transport driver because of the sedation.

Today the juvenile chickens move out into their run. I need to do the finishing touches ... the 2 final bags of sand, and spread the pine chips around. (Do they call these "pine crisps" in Britain??) Then, I will let them explore. Eventually I will set up the swing for them, and build a perch or ladder - extra amusements always welcome for chickens. Hopefully I'll also get the coop signage up, too.

I'm also going to try my hand at making that green bean casserole... from scratch. I also want to make pasta carbonara Italian style.

I've some important phone calls re health insurance to make as well.

I have considered making green bean casserole from scratch to replace the canned crap my family has at Thanksgiving. I bet what you make will be a big improvement over that stuff.

Pasta carbonara is not difficult, but have your mise en place done, because it comes together pretty fast at the end.

Nicaragua bananas are not going to be cheap, or good tomorrow. Nicaragua is getting wiped out by a Cat4 Hurricane tonight. :(

Trip to shops, I go to a small shop where I grew up, I like to support the wee guys. Wife says I'm paying over the odds for product, I don't care, they need to make a living. M and ms for grandkids plus a few other things.
Booze trip to pick up 3 X 1 litre bottles of rum.
Eftpos to get cash out.
Look for arborio rice, wife can't find any locally. There's a halal shop I reckon will have it.?
Sort my dinner out, wife's home late, again.
It's 2pm here Wednesday right now.

Tasters mate my problem was I was on blood thinners because of my heart attack. They had to wait for a year before they could do a biopsy as there was a chance I would bleed out.
The day arrived at Wrexham (rectum) Maelor Hospital. I knew the 6ft 2" male nurse Dai (Dai the death) from rugby.
Dai, put this gown on and then lie on your side and bring your knees up to your chin.
Okay.
Dai then pulled a chair up so his face was about 12" from mine.
Dai, the Doctor will come in carrying the equipment he will insert, Steve it will go better if you don't look.
I looked  I felt😱
Through clenched teeth I said, you bastards could you not have waited for the second date.
I dressed thanked them. The young female nurse waiting for me, invited me to follow her for a nice cup of tea. I thought what had I done for my life to come to this. I made my refusals and drove home. I had not told my wife and lied that she was waiting in the car to drive me home. I only told her when I tested positive.
