Plans for today (2023)

The "Wake" is actually very beneficial. It gives you a chance to chat to all the guests outside the rather grim atmosphere of the church funeral. Most of my cousins were there (including one I hadn´t seen in 50 years or more) ; my remaining aunts, and some family friends. It also gets you something to eat , and more than anything, there´s free beer!
This particular place is 14th century, all the food is made from fresh and the patrons are just marvellous. The Cock Horse
How cool!
That sounds like my kinda send off. I want to have my ashes sit in the middle of the bar and have food and drink for the family and friends. They'll get a chance to share memories of me.
I think that would be lovely. Raise a glass in my honor.

Wifes tidying up the garden I'm watering. Just had snack of potato salad. Watching races and betting before we go out to dinner with kids and grandkids. Hello Vietnam. Great place. My choice because I'm paying.

I wish the pub my hubby and I worked in closed at sensible times like that!
We only stopped serving food at 10pm. I forget when last round was (laws have changed since then) but if we were out of the kitchen and on our way home by midnight, it was an early finish but it was in a major tourist spot. We also opened at 11am everyday without fail.
Shifts were 10am to 3pm, 3pm to 6pm and 6pm to about midnight. Bank holidays were looooonger...

Tomorrow, the plans are
  • Knitting, take neighbour and bring home neighbour and a +90 year old lady in my 4×4 (I have to take a step with me so she can get in and out slightly more easily but she's pretty mobile for someone in her 90s)
  • Clean the carpet in the study bedroom (hoover then wash) whilst weather is dry
  • Then attack the sitting room.
    • Empty everything out,
    • clean from floor to ceiling,
    • Hoover ceiling and cornices
    • wash carpet,
    • wash vinyl floor,
    • dust and wash everything in the room as it goes back into it...
    • I also need to remove the light and lampshades and wash them after disposing off the dead flies (5 lights to do)
    • I also need to wash both sofas and chair.
    • Wash the pillows and another quilt and get them on the line drying
  • do a visual water check for our drinking water tank (that does include climbing the long ladders but not onto a roof)...
  • Still need to put away clothes in bedroom and walk in wardrobe (aka bedroom 2) but that can be done when the weather is wet/bad.
  • I also need to remove the excessive number of spiders' webs between the insect nets and the windows for the entire house, but each frame is unique to that window and can't even be rotated or turned over else it doesn't fit. Half of them need to be done on ladders as well.... darn spiders.
At some point I need to sweep the chimney (but I'll pass on that tomorrow, I'm on my own and I prefer to climb on the roof with others around, just in case. I don't need my hip replacement op getting cancelled because I'm in hospital!)

Yeah, that will take most of the week to be honest.

I've also started on the kitchen, easier to do a cupboard at a time. I've done 2 and have about a million and 1 left to do.
Then the
  • dining room, not started,
  • halfway which is half done,
  • laundry which is a disaster zone
  • and the mud room which is living up to its name and is about 2inches deep in dirt and dust.
I have to finish all of this and the veranda before I go on for my operation because that day is also the house inspection day!

No time to be wicked hey!

Sitting in the car while Winona drives. We’re heading West for about an hour. I bought some vintage stereo equipment on line. Amp/tuner and speakers. Still looking for a turntable.
Weekends my wife doesn't drive either, I'm her personal assistant. She hates driving. She has a ford V8.
