AKA a really long day !!!

I'm working on a last minute work project, then going to Meijer's to pick up a few items on sale that I need for our trip, then packing a bin of kitchen items to take with us since we will be gone 2 weeks at a condo with a full kitchen. I plan on cooking lots of fresh seafood but I don't feel the need to go to the grocery store and buy herbs, spices, flour, sugar, etc. so I will be taking it with us. Plus a couple of sharp knives since resort condos knives are usually awful. And a potato masher and tongs, for some reason they never seem to have those items.

Tomorrow I am getting a pedicure and a haircut, then coming home and packing clothes, then Saturday morning I will pack a few frozen items and refrigerated foods in coolers to take as well, and hopefully we will be out of here by around 11 a.m. It is about an 11 hour drive so we are staying the night in North Carolina about 7 hours in, so Sunday will be a shorter driving day. I drive because hubby can't see very well and I am taking my car, which he never drives so it's just easier.

Today's plans involve hiding inside the house for most of the day trying to avoid 34°C.

I will be watering the garden & veg plot and cleaning the verandah (chook with a poorly tum) before it gets too warm.

No cooking because it will be too hot to eat anything even warm over the next few days and we're out on Saturday night for a treat (7 course vegan tasting menu for 2).

I'll also try to tidy the mudroom a little before it gets too warm to be in there. It's the last room in the house to be blitzed and it needs it badly but next week will be easier to do it when the temperature drops back to sensible figures.

And I need to water the garden and get set up for making cool patches for the chooks. So that's water their favourite dust bathing spots so that the soil is damp for the weekend. It will help them stay cooler.

Otherwise I've not much planned.

Flew to Alderney this morning for work and we've (my colleague and I) got stuck here due to cancelled flight.
Staying at Braye Beach Hotel, just about to head down for something to eat.
And then a few pints. 👹
